Secure Patient Transfer for Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides physical and mental health care, learning disability and adult social care services. The Trust serves a population of 1.5 million people across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

Prometheus Safe and Secure has a long-standing partnership with MPFT spanning more than seven years. It is the exclusive provider of secure patient transport across the Trust serving its two main hospitals; St Georges in Stafford and The Redwood Centre in Shrewsbury.

Prometheus carries out around 230 moves every year for the Trust, within a range of settings including hospitals, GP surgeries and Accident and Emergency departments. As well as Secure Patient Transfer, it provides home collection and observation services.

Prometheus provides the Trust with the peace of mind of a guaranteed two hour collection service and a team that is carefully selected based on the individual needs of the patient.

“We need a reliable and professional service that we can trust, and Prometheus always delivers on its promises. Their people are highly experienced, and because the training they receive is aligned to our own, we know patients will receive continuity of care.

“What you get with Prometheus is a premium service delivered with respect and compassion which can make all the difference to our staff and our patients.”

Gary Firkins, De-escalation, Management and Intervention Service Lead, MPFT

There is also collaboration between the two organisations when it comes to the training of staff. Prometheus adopts the de-escalation, management and prevention model, a holistic approach which focuses on risk assessment, care plans and non-physical intervention.

Training is delivered by senior trainers from MPFT to help facilitate a cohesive approach to patient care.
